Patriot was recently featured in Crain’s Cleveland Business for its rapid expansion in the Northeastern Ohio area, taking on 33 new employees in 2015 alone.
“We’re expanding Patriot’s workforce to meet the new demand, and this past business year alone we’ve hired on 33 new staff members in the areas of marketing, PR, development, and support in the last six months,” said Patriot CEO, Mike Kappel.
Inc. Magazine also featured Patriot Software, both online and in its May 2016 print edition, exploring Patriot’s best practices in internships.
“We bring in paid interns for a semester of college or so, and if they are a good fit, we offer them opportunities to stay on as employees before they leave to go back to college,” said Kappel. “We’re surrounded by some great universities, like Kent State, Malone, Akron, Mount Union, Walsh and more. But tech talent is in high demand all over the country, and that’s doubly true in smaller towns like Canton.”
The two articles echo sentiments expressed previously in Kappel’s Forbes column commentary. “I’m trying to build a strong, local culture here at Patriot. A pride point for the town. A way of saying that we believe in the future of this community and, rather than uprooting someone from outside of it and bringing them in, we want to work with what the local resources provide. It’s the harder road, but it keeps the culture cohesive, and, if I had to be honest, that culture has given my company an edge in the SaaS industry.”
