Invoice Definition

An invoice is a bill that you send to your customer in order to collect money for a sale.

When you send an invoice to a customer, you include a list of all the goods or services you provided and the total amount due.

Typically, you must include the following sections on your invoice:

  • Date
  • Customer and seller information
  • Goods and/or services purchased
  • Total amount due
  • Payment terms
  • Invoice number

There are several strategies you can use to create a more effective invoicing system. When you utilize your invoices, you may receive money owed to you faster.
