DECOR notice, or decentralized correspondence, is a notice issued by the IRS when there is an error on an employee’s Form W-2 that could potentially cause problems within the payroll system. They are issued for several reasons including, but not limited to:

  • Typographical errors
  • Incorrect Social Security number
  • Unreported name or address changes
  • Inaccurate records

This notice may send employee earnings into a suspended file. To fix the issue, you can verify or correct the information on the employee’s Form W-2.
