Homeschooled and a lifelong Ohioan, Kyle Quinn Dreger ("KQD") is a husband, dad of three, and CEO of Patriot Software. After earning degrees in computer science and English from the University of Mount Union, KQD joined Patriot as an engineering intern in 2014. He spent the next ten years working across all areas of the company before taking over as chief executive from founder Mike Kappel in 2024.
KQD loves helping American businesses thrive by building software to handle their back-office hate-but-have-to-dos. He's on a mission to make Patriot the most American-business-obsessed, fastest-moving, and Oxford-comma-loving team in the world.
Born in Ohio and trained as an engineer at Ohio University, Mike spent the early 1980s in the Nuclear Equipment Division of Babcock & Wilcox. In 1986, he saw the potential of the young software industry, left the corporate world, and started the first of his five Patriot Software companies.
With more than 30 years as a successful serial entrepreneur, Mike remains focused on what's driven him from the start: helping millions of American business owners make it happen. His motto ("If it ain't broke, break it") still sets the tone for risk-taking and innovation across the company.
