How to Add Idaho Unemployment Insurance

Background

If you do business in the state of Idaho, you must register for Idaho unemployment insurance. You will receive a rate notice from the Idaho Department of Labor each year. Your rate is based on your industry and unemployment claim history. There are three components that make up your total unemployment tax rate:

  • Unemployment Contribution Rate
  • Administrative Reserve Rate
  • Workforce Development Rate

See our state guide Idaho New Employer Information for tax rates for new businesses, or for more information, see the Idaho Department of Labor website.

How to set up Idaho Unemployment Tax Rates

  1. Go to Payroll > Settings > Payroll Settings > State Unemployment Rates
  2. Click “Edit” next to each section to
  3. Enter one of the three tax rates
  4. Enter the effective date of the tax rate, i.e. 1/1/20xx
  5. The Rate History section shows the history of previous SUTA rate changes, including the most recent one you entered.

You will need to update these rates each year when you receive your tax notice from the Idaho Department of Labor.
