Payroll Tax Filing Options

for Certified Advisors

Patriot Software offers a Basic Payroll and a Full Service Payroll option. Compare the differences of our online payroll solutions. You decide which option is best for you and your clients.

For each Basic Payroll client you add, you will be responsible for depositing and filing your client’s payroll taxes. Patriot will provide an electronic W-3/SSA file, prefilled quarterly 941 forms, and a tax liabilities report to show all federal, state, and local taxes that are owed.

For each Full-Service Payroll client you add, Patriot Software becomes the Reporting Agent and will deposit and file your client’s federal, state, and local taxes. Here are the steps:

  • You enter your client’s federal, state, and local (if applicable) tax account numbers and deposit frequencies into our software.
  • From within our software, you download the signature-ready forms which gives Patriot authorization to deposit and file your client’s payroll taxes. You present these forms to your client for their signature, and return them to Patriot.
    • Reporting Agent Authorization-Form 8655
    • payroll tax power of attorney form
    • and any other state-required forms
  • You notify your client that Patriot Software is the third party Reporting Agent who will deposit and file their payroll taxes.
  • You (or your client) enter your client’s bank information for collection of taxes.
  • You (or your client) will verify the bank account by confirming a small dollar amount that Patriot has deposited and withdrawn to/from your client’s bank account.
  • You authorize the first tax payment of any taxes owed from payroll activity in our system.

Once our tax filing service has begun, you will be able to view reports of tax deposits made and download copies of the quarterly tax filing packets for each of your clients

When you become a Certified Advisor, your special pricing will remain the entire time you manage your client's accounts through Patriot Software and adhere to the terms of the Advisor Program. It's a great way to save your time and money!

Become Certified in Patriot Software

As an Advisor, you can become certified in our accounting software and payroll software. When you pass the quiz, you will earn the designation of "Certified Advisor." This designation includes the following benefits:

The quiz is administered online and can be taken anywhere you have internet access. You will need to register with your name and email address to take the quiz.

You will watch a 30 minute video that covers important information for how to set up and manage your clients. At the end of a video is a 5-question quiz. You will need a passing score of 80%, or 4 out of 5 correct questions, to become a Certified Advisor.

Currently there are no recertification requirements once you pass the quiz.

Help and Training

The best way to become a Certified Advisor is to be a user of the software. If you are not a customer of Patriot, you should be able to learn our software by using the sample data provided in a Demo Account.

We encourage you to visit our help centers for both products, which contain training articles about all of the features.
