Originating ID (ACH ID Number) Definition

The originating identification number, or originating ID, is a 10-digit ID assigned to a company by its bank.

Originating ID Extended Definition

The bank assigns companies a unique originating ID. This identifies companies that attempt to withdraw money from a bank account. If you have an ACH debit block in place on your bank account, you must whitelist a company’s originating ID so that they can make bank account withdrawals.

For example, you would need to add your payroll company’s originating ID as whitelisted to your bank account. This will allow your payroll company to withdraw money for direct deposit.
