DBA (Doing Business As) Definition

DBA stands for ‘doing business as.’ It represents a name that a company operates under that is different from its legal name.

DBA Extended Definition
Refers to the publicly presented trade name that is different from the business owner’s personal name, business partners’ names, or the corporation’s or LLC’s registered name. Companies are registered with the Internal Revenue Service either using their legal or DBA name. When filing most government forms, employers can either use the legal or the DBA name of the company.
