Video: Multiple Pay Rates for Hourly Employees Overview

Here’s a quick 17-second demo of setting up and using multiple pay rates for hourly employees.

If you have employees who get paid by the hour, you might need to pay them different amounts for different jobs they do. Our system makes it easy to handle these different pay rates for one worker.

Here is how it works, depending on how you track time:

1. If you use our Time Tracking System (Time and Attendance):
If your workers clock in and out using our system, you can set up all those different pay amounts ahead of time. When the employee clocks in to do a specific task, the system will keep track of how many hours they worked at that specific pay rate. The computer does all the math for you automatically!

2. If you enter the hours yourself (No Time System):
If you don’t use our clock-in system and enter the hours for your workers yourself, your employees can still help. When they fill out their weekly work sheets (called timecards), they can choose which job they were doing for those hours. Then, you just type in how many hours they worked at each pay rate.

No matter which way you enter the time, the employee’s paycheck stub will always be clear. The pay stub will show a clear list of the hours they worked for each pay rate. It will also show exactly how we figured out all their normal hours and any extra hours (overtime) they earned. This keeps everything easy to understand and correct.
