  • Withholding Requirements -- Texas employers must register as a new employer on the Window on State Government.
    There is no withholding tax in Texas.

  • State Unemployment Insurance (SUI) -- Employers should use the benefit ratio formula for SUI, with a wage base of $9,000.
    SUI rates range from 0.66% to 8.25% for Texas employers.
    The SUI rate in Texas is based on the employer's NAICS code.
    The Texas SUI rate includes: General Tax Rate, Replenishment Tax Rate, Obligation Assessment Rate, and the Employment Training Investment Assessment.

  • State Labor Laws -- The Federal minimum wage rate ($7.25) for payroll applies as of 7/21/2011.
    Employees should receive termination pay in six days if they are fired and on the next regular payday if they quit.
