- Withholding Requirements -- Ohio employers must register by filing Form UCO-1.
Employees must complete IT-4, the Employee's Withholding Exemption Certificate.
Employers should withhold supplemental wages at a rate of 3.5%.
- Local Taxes -- You can find the list of Ohio city taxes at the Ohio.gov website.
- Ohio School District Income Taxes -- In addition to local tax withholding, some school districts impose a mandatory income tax on residents of a school district. To look up the school district, visit the Ohio Dept. of Taxation.
- State Unemployment Insurance (SUI) -- The wage base is $9,000, with rates ranging from .70% to 9.6%.
New employers should use a rate of 2.7%.
New construction employers should use a rate of 6.4%.

- State Labor Laws -- The Ohio minimum wage is $7.40 as of 7/21/2011.
If an employee quits, they should receive their final pay on the first of the month for wages earned in the first half of the previous month, and on the 15th for wages earned in the last half of the previous month.
- New Hire Reporting -- Employers must report hiring, rehiring, and return to work within 20 days on Form W-4 (or equivalent) to:
