- Child Support Laws -- Employers can find information on Connecticut's child support policies at the Connecticut government site.
- Labor Laws -- The minimum wage in Connecticut is currently $8.25 per hour (2011).
- Termination Pay -- If an employee is fired, they must receive their final pay the next day. If an employee quits, the employer can pay the final check on the next regular payday. Small business owners can find more information about labor laws on the Department of Labor web page.
- New Hire Reporting Law -- According to the Dept. of Labor, Connecticut employers are required to report all new hires to their payroll within 20 days of the hire date.
- State Unemployment Insurance -- Employers must report quarterly wages and contributions by filing Form UC-5A (Employee Quarterly Earnings Report) and F Form UC-2 (Employer Contribution Return) by the last day of the month following end of quarter.
- Withholding Requirements -- New employers must register by filling out Form UC-1A, available on the Connecticut state website. On the state site, employers can also access the Employee Withholding Allowance Certificate.
- Reciprocal States -- Connecticut does not have reciprocal agreements with other states.
