Pricing FAQs
Q: What does Patriot PAY cost?
A: We set a fair price for our payroll software, according to the size of your business. There are no hidden fees and no surprises -- just a low monthly cost based on the number of your employees. Use our Pricing Calculator to estimate your monthly software fees.
Note: Our monthly fees may be subject to state sales tax, depending on your state.
Q: What does my monthly service fee include?
A: Patriot's monthly service fee includes a base price for every module you are using, plus a per- employee charge. For example, if you used Patriot PAY to create checks for five different employees during a given month, your next service fee invoice would include the base PAY fee and charges for the five employees. If a new employee is paid or if an employee is terminated during the billing cycle, we will automatically adjust your invoice accordingly.
Q: How is the per-employee fee determined?
A: We count the unique number of employees who were paid during the monthly billing cycle. Your per-employee cost is less when the number of employees you pay is higher. Use the
Pricing Calculator to determine your total costs.
Q: How often do you raise your prices?
A: We rarely raise our prices. However, we reserve the right to modify our pricing at anytime for any reason without notice. The prices in our Pricing Calculator are effective prices as of today.
Q: Will I have to pay for technical support help?
A: Probably not. Patriot PAY gives you easy answers when you need them. Need a payroll term defined or more payroll training? Just click on the help screens, training articles, or videos. Or, email us your question. We also offer free phone support for routine issues. If you have a problem that you just can't solve, our customer support department can help you at a reasonable rate. See our Software Support Philosophy for more details.
Q: How much will it cost to provide direct deposit to my employees?
A: There's no additional software charge for providing direct deposit to your employees. However, your bank may charge you for processing your direct deposit.
Q: Will my payroll software costs change if I issue a large number of paychecks?
A: Patriot charges by the number of employees paid per month, not number of paychecks. So issue as many paychecks as you would like whenever you need to run payroll. Please note, however, that if you're using direct deposit, your bank may charge you additional fees.
Billing FAQs
Q: What methods of payment do you accept for software and service fees?
A: Patriot Software accepts credit or debit cards from Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover as the only form of payment for your software and service fees.
Q. If I am a TaxBeGone customer, what methods of payment do you accept for payroll taxes?
A. Patriot Software only collects payroll taxes by debiting your bank account. Payroll tax payments cannot be made with a credit card.
Q: If I am a TaxBeGone customer, when will you collect my payroll taxes?
A: We collect payroll taxes each time you run a payroll or enter a payroll edit. Generally the funds are withdrawn from your bank account one day before the check date. You will see the exact date the funds will be withdrawn at the time you preview your payroll. You can also find the information under the Billing Activity page.
Q. I’m in a free trial of the payroll software. When do I have to enter my credit card information?
A. You will need to enter a valid credit or debit card by the end of your trial period. When your trial is over, you will not be able to run payrolls until a credit or debit card has been entered.
Q. What happens if my credit card expires?
A. You will get an email notification before your credit card is going to expire. After your credit card has expired, you will need to enter a valid credit card number to run payrolls.
Q: How does your billing cycle work?
A: Patriot Software bills in arrears for the previous month. We issue software/service fee invoices on the first day of every month for the previous month’s service. Service fees are charged to customer credit cards on the 5th day of every month. For example, for software usage in March, we would issue an invoice around April 1st, and your credit card would be charged April 5th.
Q: What if I change services in the middle of a month?
A: To keep billing simple, we do not prorate monthly software or service fees. If you choose to add or cancel services in the middle of a month, you will be charged for the entire month.
Q: I have a promo code for one month free. If I sign up in the middle of a month, how does this work?
A: We will extend your free trial period to the end of the month! For example, if you sign up on January 10th, your one free month expires on February 10th. Your first full month of paid use would be March. Because we bill in arrears, your first invoice will be issued April 1st, and your credit card will be charged April 5th.
